Bilingual Customer Engagement Representative

This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for current and future vacancies for Customer Engagement Representative – Bilingual positions. These positions may remain open until filled and the eligibility list will be active for six months.

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is now accepting applications for customer engagement representative. The Customer Engagement Representative – Bilingual is responsible for providing a welcoming and inclusive office environment for both patrons and staff.  We are currently recruiting for one position specifically for Spanish speaking candidates and building an eligibility list for all district used languages. Language need and selection will be based on facility and operational need.

The Tualatin Hills Athletic Center is a full-service recreation facility serving all ages. The recreation center offers badminton, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. It also has an indoor walking/jogging track, where six laps equal one mile. We also offer youth sports, art, dance, tumbling, and taekwondo classes for all ages. Outdoor basketball courts are also available.

The focus of this position is front desk operations and customer service. Successful applicants will have at least one year of experience providing administrative and clerical support within a department, and an interest in public service. This position is different from others in the classification due to the duties at the athletic center.  They will be responsible for high-level communication including patron mass emails, understanding center scheduling and relevant changes, and training of new and part time staff.

The schedule will be Monday through Friday Schedule, 9:30am to 6:30pm. Assignments and schedules are subject to change based on organizational and seasonal need.

Essential Job Functions:

Welcomes patrons, visitors and the community to district centers and facilities; engages and builds rapport with patrons and visitors to better understand needs; gathers information from patrons, visitors and district staff to respond to inquiries and provide recommendations on district programs and services to meet patron, visitor and community needs such as Centro de Bienvenida, and connecting patrons to financial aid resources.
Registers participants for classes and receives money and issues receipts following registration procedures.
Prepares, proofreads and/or copies a variety of forms, letters, fliers, reports, promotional materials, etc. from rough draft or detailed instruction.
Assists with content design and management of social media accounts.
Maintains bulletin boards and display cases and center/office decorations.
Attends staff meetings; serves on or provides support to a variety of committees, task forces or groups as assigned.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade; AND
One year of general clerical and/or receptionist experience which must have included public contact.

Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP), preferred
